Forest Hills South is located in the prestigious Queens community of Forest Hills, between Queens Boulevard and the Grand Central Parkway.
Shopping, Dining and Entertainment
Some of Forest Hills' best shopping, dining and entertainment options are a short walk away from our co-op. Within a block of the co-op there are a supermarket, health club, drug stores, delis and other conveniences. Nearby Austin Street offers fine shopping ranging from national specialty retailers to distinctive boutiques, as well as gourmet markets and restaurants for every taste. There are two multi-screen theater complexes showing first-run movies, as well as the Forest Hills branch of the Queens Public Library.
Recreation
Forest Hills South is only a short bike ride or drive away from Flushing Meadow Park. This park, the second largest in the City after Central Park, offers a range of recreational options, including biking and running paths, sailboat rentals, play parks and ball fields, and picnic areas. There is also a City park and playground about three blocks away from the co-op on Austin Street.
Transportation
Mass transit options are convenient and plentiful. Forest Hills South is one block away from the Union Turnpike subway station, where the E and F trains travel to Manhattan in about 30 minutes. Five express buses to Manhattan stop a block away from the co-op and make the trip to Midtown in about a half hour. The Q60 bus makes local stops all the way into Manhattan along Queens Boulevard.
The area is especially convenient for drivers. The Long Island Expressway, Van Wyck Expressway, Grand Central Parkway and Jackie Robinson Parkway converge around Forest Hills.
New York's airports are minutes away by taxi or private car. LaGuardia Airport is only a 10-minute drive away, and the ride to JFK Airport takes about 15 minutes.
